The incredible cycle of boom and bust in East London – Nearly one in 10 homes in Tower Hamlets has been built in the last five years.

The scale of the housing boom in east London is revealed in new figures.

Some 36,470 homes in Tower Hamlets have been built since the year 2000.

That means that an incredible three in 10 of its entire stock of homes have been built in the last 15 years – far more than anywhere else in the country.

In fact nearly one in 10 homes in Tower Hamlets was built between 2010 and 2015.

In Greenwich, some 15.2% of properties in the borough have gone up since the turn of the 21st century.
